Can a roll-off truck reach a Buffalo Gap property?

A roll-off truck reaches most Buffalo Gap properties, but the ground matters. Buffalo Gap sits on the Callahan Divide, the ridge between the Brazos and Colorado basins, and Elm Creek runs through town. Pick a level, firm spot away from the creek bank, with about 60 feet of straight approach.

  • A loaded truck can sink in soft ground after rain. Gravel or caliche drives work best.
  • Overhead clearance: keep about 23 feet clear of oak limbs and wires.
  • Our drivers set wood boards under the rails on concrete and asphalt.

Homes in subdivisions such as Mountain Meadow, near Buffalo Gap, usually have room on the drive. Tell us the gate code if the property is fenced.

Who collects trash in Buffalo Gap?

The 2022–2042 West Central Texas regional solid waste plan lists Republic Services as Buffalo Gap's collection and disposal provider. That covers regular trash. A short-term roll-off for a remodel or cleanout is a separate rental, and we check that your address can take one when you call.

The regional plan lists no municipal landfill in Taylor County; the closest it lists are the Abilene Landfill and the Abilene Environmental Landfill, both sited in Jones County, and each roll-off load is weighed on a certified landfill scale before billing.

What should you know before renovating an old Buffalo Gap building?

Buffalo Gap is one of Taylor County's oldest towns. It served as the temporary county seat until Abilene won the seat in 1883, and its 1879 native limestone jail is on the National Register. Older buildings can hide lead paint or asbestos, which change how debris is handled.

For a paid renovation of a pre-1978 home, federal lead-safe work rules apply, and asbestos-containing material must be removed by a licensed abatement crew, not tossed in a roll-off. See the rules on our remodeling dumpster page.

The Buffalo Gap Historic Village, including the Ernie Wilson Museum of the Old West, has been run by the McWhiney History Education Group since 1999.

Which size fits a Buffalo Gap project?

A barn or shed cleanout usually fits a 15-yard dumpster, a kitchen or one-layer roof fits the 20-yard, and tearing down an old outbuilding may need the 30 or 40-yard. Limestone, rock and concrete go only in the 10 or 15-yard.

Buffalo Gap dumpster questions

How far is Buffalo Gap from your trucks?

Buffalo Gap is about 13 miles southwest of Abilene, where Farm Roads 89 and 1235 meet. Book by 3:00 PM for next-day delivery.

Can the dumpster go near Elm Creek on my lot?

Keep it on high, firm ground away from the creek bank. Soft or sloped ground can't hold a loaded roll-off safely.

Can I put old limestone in the dumpster?

Clean stone, rock and concrete go in the 10 or 15-yard only, loaded halfway up the walls. Unmixed loads can qualify for clean-fill pricing; ask on the call.

Do you deliver near Lake Abilene?

Lake Abilene sits on Elm Creek about six miles northwest of Tuscola, inside our area. Firm road access is what matters; call with the address.
